Welcome to Salt Cycles in Sandy, Utah. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) outline what you can expect from us and what we ask of our customers when visiting our website, purchasing products, renting bikes, or using our services.
By using our website or services, you agree to these Terms.
General Information

All products, services, pricing, and availability are subject to change without notice.

We reserve the right to correct errors, including pricing or product descriptions.

These Terms apply to in-store, online, phone, and event-related interactions.
Returns & Refunds

New, unused items may be returned within 30 days with a receipt.

Items must be unused and in original condition and packaging, with all tags, accessories, manuals, and hardware included.

Returns are not accepted for items that have been installed, used, damaged, modified, or are missing packaging/components.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method or as store credit, at our discretion.
Bicycles

Bicycles may only be returned if they are new, unridden, and in original condition.

All bicycle returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
Special Order Items

Special order items may be returned only if they are new, unused, and in original condition.

All special order returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee.

Special order items that have been installed, used, damaged, modified, or are missing packaging/components are final sale and non-returnable.

Once a special order has been placed with the vendor, the item may not be cancelable. If cancellation is possible, it may be subject to vendor restocking fees, shipping charges, and handling fees, which may be deducted from any refund.
Deposits

Deposits placed on bicycles or special order items are partially non-refundable.

If an order is canceled, 50% of the deposit will be retained, and the remaining balance will be refunded unless otherwise stated in writing.

If a vendor restocking fee and/or shipping fees apply, those costs may be deducted from any refund.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method or as store credit, at our discretion.
Payment & Billing Terms
Payment Due at Pickup
Payment is due in full upon completion of work and prior to pickup of any bicycle, equipment, or merchandise.
Deposits/Special Orders
Deposits may be required for special order parts, bicycles, custom builds, and certain high-value items. Once the order is placed with the vendor, deposits are partially non-refundable as described above unless otherwise stated in writing.
Authorization for Additional Work/Parts
Customer authorizes Salt Cycles to perform requested service. If additional parts or labor are required after inspection or disassembly, we may contact the customer for approval—especially if the total will exceed a customer-provided approval amount.
Estimates Are Not Final Bills
Any quote or estimate is a good-faith approximation based on visible conditions at intake. Final pricing may change if additional issues are discovered, parts are required, or conditions differ from what was visible prior to disassembly.
Storage Fees
Bikes must be picked up promptly after service completion. Bikes left after notification of completion may be subject to storage fees. Storage fees may begin after the pickup deadline stated in the Abandoned Bikes section below and/or as otherwise communicated at time of service completion.
Unpaid Invoices / Abandoned Property
Items left unpaid and unclaimed may be considered abandoned and may be handled in accordance with applicable Utah law.
Billing Disputes / Chargebacks
If you have a billing concern, you agree to contact Salt Cycles directly to attempt resolution prior to initiating a chargeback or payment dispute through your bank or card provider. Chargebacks or payment disputes initiated without first contacting Salt Cycles may be restricted or challenged through our payment processor.
Labor Is Non-Refundable
Labor/service charges are non-refundable once work has been performed.
Bicycle Repairs & Service Work
We take pride in our service and want to be transparent about how repairs work.

Repair estimates are estimates only and may change if additional issues are discovered.

We may contact you for approval before performing additional work.
We are not responsible for:

Hidden, pre-existing, or structural damage
-
Failure of worn or aging components not replaced

Manufacturer defects
Bikes should be picked up promptly after service completion.
Warranty Information
Many products sold by Salt Cycles are covered by manufacturer warranties.
Warranty coverage is limited to the terms and conditions set by the manufacturer.
Unless otherwise stated in writing:

Warranty coverage applies to parts only.

Labor is not covered under any warranty.
If an item must be shipped to a manufacturer or distributor for warranty evaluation or replacement, all shipping and handling costs are the responsibility of the customer.
We do not guarantee warranty approval, as all warranty claims are subject to manufacturer inspection and determination.
Salt Cycles is not responsible for delays, denial of coverage, or changes in warranty terms made by the manufacturer.
Bike Pickup & Delivery
Salt Cycles may offer bicycle pickup and delivery services at residential or commercial locations. By requesting pickup or delivery, the customer authorizes Salt Cycles to access the designated location at the agreed-upon time.
Customers are responsible for ensuring:

Safe and reasonable access to the bicycle

That the bicycle is ready for pickup

That pets are secured and any gates, doors, or access points are unlocked or accessible as instructed
Salt Cycles is not responsible for:

Delays caused by access issues, unsafe conditions, weather, or traffic

Normal wear, pre-existing damage, or mechanical issues discovered during transport

Damage resulting from inadequate packaging, preparation, or unsecured items left on the bicycle
Bikes are transported using reasonable care. Risk of loss or damage transfers back to the customer upon delivery completion.
Missed pickups or deliveries may be subject to rescheduling fees or additional service charges.
After-Hours Pickup & Delivery
After-hours or no-contact pickup and delivery may be offered at our discretion. By requesting after-hours service, the customer authorizes Salt Cycles to access the designated location outside of normal business hours and accepts that staff may not be present to confirm condition at the time of pickup or delivery.
The customer is responsible for ensuring safe access, adequate lighting, and clear instructions for after-hours service. Salt Cycles is not responsible for loss, theft, vandalism, or damage occurring after the bicycle has been picked up from or delivered to the designated location. Risk of loss transfers to the customer upon completion of delivery.
Abandoned Bikes
Bikes left more than 30 days after notification of completion may be subject to storage fees of $3 per day or considered abandoned in accordance with Utah law.
Rentals & Demo Bikes

Renters assume full responsibility for rented or demo bikes during the rental period.

A valid ID and credit card may be required.

Renters are responsible for loss, theft, or damage beyond normal wear.

Cycling involves inherent risks, and renters ride at their own risk.
E-Bike Specific Terms
E-bikes require special care and compliance with local laws.
Riders are responsible for following all local, state, and federal e-bike laws, including speed limits, classifications, and trail or road restrictions.
Batteries and electrical components must be charged, stored, and used only as directed by the manufacturer.
We are not responsible for damage or injury resulting from:

Improper charging or storage

Use of non-approved chargers or batteries

Unauthorized modifications, including firmware changes, speed unlocks, or tuning devices
Manufacturer firmware updates may change performance or features, and Salt Cycles is not responsible for resulting changes.
Children’s Bikes & Minor Responsibility

A parent or legal guardian is responsible for the selection, fit, and supervision of bicycles and equipment purchased or serviced for a minor.

Helmets and appropriate safety gear are strongly recommended and may be required by law.

We are not responsible for injuries resulting from misuse, lack of supervision, or failure to follow safety recommendations.
Test Rides

Test rides are offered at our discretion.

Riders assume full responsibility for injury, loss, or damage during a test ride.

Riders must obey traffic laws and ride safely.

Customers may be responsible for damage or loss occurring during a test ride.

Events, Group Rides & Clinics
Group rides, clinics, and events may be canceled, rescheduled, or modified due to:

Weather
-
Safety concerns
-
Low participation
-
Unforeseen circumstances
Refunds or credits for canceled events may be issued as store credit rather than cash refunds.
Storage & Personal Property
Please remove all personal items from your bike before service, rental return, or storage.
We are not responsible for personal items left on or attached to bicycles, including bags, lights, computers, bottles, or accessories.
Personal items left on bicycles during pickup or delivery are the customer’s responsibility and are transported at their own risk.
Personal items are left at your own risk.
Assumption of Risk & Liability
Cycling is an inherently risky activity.
Customers acknowledge and accept the risks associated with bicycling.
We are not responsible for injuries or damages resulting from:

Improper use

Failure to follow instructions

Normal wear and tear
Customers are responsible for ensuring their bicycle fits properly and is safe to ride.
This includes risks associated with bicycle transport, pickup, and delivery services.
Website Use

Website content is for informational purposes only.

Users may not copy content, misuse the site, or attempt to disrupt site functionality.

Payments are processed through third-party providers, including Stripe (used directly and through platforms such as Hubtiger or Squarespace). Salt Cycles does not store or have access to full credit card information. All payment data is handled securely by these providers in accordance with their own terms and privacy policies.
Privacy
Your use of our website and services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use personal information.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of our website or services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
